The biggest international day for the environment is World Environment Day. It has grown to be the greatest global platform for environmental outreach, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and hosted yearly since 1973. Millions of people all over the world celebrate it. The theme for this year’s World Environment Day is “Only One Earth” focusing on "Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature."

DIAL is committed to conducting business in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner by reducing the environmental impact of its operations and implementing essential pollution control systems and measures.
We have taken various proactive initiatives toward environment management and sustainability, such as:
In addition to all this, DIAL is also making technological advancements such as the adoption of electric vehicles, electric cleaning devices at the airport, electric charging points at the airport and TaxiBots. Taxibot (a semi-robotic vehicle, and is used as a means of taxiing the plane to the runway). Delhi Airport is the first airport in the world to take up this initiative. The adoption of Taxibot has resulted in reducing the significant amount of aviation turbine fuel consumption by aircraft for ground movement. There are also electric buses that help in hassle-free passenger transit to and from flights.

With more than 220 Gardeners, Supervisors and Horticulturists who take care of 6,50,000 winter seedlings, 60,000 potted flower plants spread across the premises, 40,000 indoor plants and a huge nursery; we take maintaining the good vibes pretty seriously. Delhi Airport to become Net Zero Carbon Emission Airport by 2030
All the above-mentioned initiatives have resulted in Delhi Airport being the First Level 4+ Certified Airport under the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program of Airports Council International (ACI). This indicates that, apart from being a carbon-neutral airport, Delhi Airport has also aligned its long term emission reduction goals in line with IPCC’s 1.5-degree scenario. Furthermore, DIAL is in the process of commissioning various operational infrastructures and multiple passenger connectivity networks around the airport that will further help in achieving the target of becoming a net zero-emission airport by 2030.
