Delhi Airport has state-of-the-art largest cargo terminal facilities with a capacity of around 1.8 million metric tons, scalable to over 2.5 million metric tons. It has advanced temperature control cargo handling facilities of over 1.5 lakh metric tons capacity currently. With over 28,000 sqm of on-airport logistics facilities within the airport premises, it offers a great benefit to the freight forwarders & logistics companies in fulfilling their need of consolidation & value add activities thus improving the efficiency of air cargo supply chain.

Over the years, numerous initiatives have been implemented by Delhi Airport Cargo to continuously enhance the operational efficiencies and boost cargo growth. Few recent initiatives include creations of new lanes from India’s NER (North Eastern Region) for fruits and vegetables export; strengthening the supply chain for temperature sensitive cargo; setting up Transshipment Excellence Centre at airside to promote transshipment cargo; continued focus towards automation and digitalization of air cargo handling processes; Air Cargo Message Exchange System (ACMES) – a single-window solution for acceptance of advance shipment information etc. In pursuance to our efforts towards digitalization, IATA declared Delhi Airport as “India’s First e-AWB 360 Compliant Airport” in October 2018. The e-Air Way Bill (e-AWB) solution allows the electronic filing of transportation document of air cargo shipment to a carrier or an authorized agent by a freight forwarder.

Delhi Airport has also been declared as India’s first Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certified airport by Indian Customs. Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programme is an initiative rolled out by ‘World Customs Organization’ to enhance the international trade, strengthen global supply chain, safe framework of standards, facilitate legitimate global trade and improve international border security in order to provide the highest level of Air Cargo Security through close co-operation with the principle stakeholders of the international supply chain, such as Manufacturers, Exporters, Importers, Airlines, Custodians, Consolidators and Custom House Agents.

With an aim to become the most preferred Air cargo Hub Airport of the region, Delhi Airport is continuously implementing new initiatives to the benefit of all the stakeholders involved in the air cargo supply chain and driving growth to the air cargo business as a whole.
