Once acting as the sole terminal for both domestic and international flights, Terminal 1 at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) now exclusively handles domestic carriers. Recently revamped, it is now the largest domestic terminal in India and boasts an enhanced annual passenger handling capacity.
Now, with the capacity to handle 40 million passengers, Terminal 1 welcomes passengers with a modern and spacious layout. The high ceilings at T1 enhance the sense of space and breathability. With high-tech self-check-in machines for faster movement, enhanced scanners for quicker security clearance, and an increased number of baggage belts for speedy luggage clearance, T1 ensures a smooth and swift pre and post-flight experience for flyers.
Each level is split into the international and domestic areas as follows below:
L1, Delhi Airport, can be reached via an escalator that goes down from L4. It provides flyers access to Bussing Gates from 31 to 45
Situated on the opposite ends, level 2 and level 3 are located on the same floor. L 2/3 at terminal 1 provide access to the arrival piers connected to the baggage belt and transfer area.
Operating as the departure level for domestic passengers, L4 is quite large. Beginning from the check-in hall, PESC, and SHA, it leads to the boarding gates 2-23. Plus, a few retail stores are also situated at level four, terminal 1, Delhi Airport, for enjoyable shopping therapy.
L5 at Terminal 1, Delhi Airport, can be accessed via an escalator going up from L4. It houses a lounge for flyers to relax and some food courts to enjoy culinary delights.
