The Skytrax World Airport Awards were originally introduced in 1999 with the launch of Skytrax's first global survey to evaluate passenger satisfaction at airports. Skytrax, which is regarded as a quality standard in the aviation sector, rates more than 500 airports worldwide according to their amenities and services. Travellers vote for the best airports based on factors like - immigration, comfort, arrival, and check-in.
Skytrax’s World Airport Awards, characterised as “The Oscars of the Aviation Industry”, are most coveted Quality accolades for airlines, & airports which represent a global benchmark of excellence.
DIAL has put forth constant effort to improve personnel services, comfort, cleanliness, and security for flyers. It has improved the entire consumer experience and made travelling through the airport, smooth and hassle-free.
These efforts were recognized when DIAL was named the Best Airport in India and South Asia at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024, which were presented during the Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt. It was Delhi Airport's sixth consecutive year of winning this accolade. From the ranking of 37 among the World's Top 100 Airports in 2021-22, Delhi Airport rose to number 36 in 2022-23 in the World Airport Survey.
Delhi Airport is the only Indian airport listed in the Global Top 50 Airports list by Skytrax. Delhi Airport, India’s top-ranked airport on Skytrax list was also previously recognized as the best airport for 5 consecutive years in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 in its global region category.

With its continued hard work and ace service, Delhi Airport retained the 36th position this year as well (2023-24). Another remarkable achievement is that Delhi Airport is the only Indian airport featured in the list of the world’s top 50 airports.
