General Travel enquiries
  • How many terminals does Indira Gandhi International Airport have and which are the operating airlines?

    Ans: IGI Airport has the following terminals:

    Terminal 1A - Domestic departures for Air India * & Air India Regional (former Indian Airlines and Alliance Air), Go Air, MDLR Airlines and Jagson Airlines.
    Terminal 1D - Domestic departures for Indigo, Kingfisher Airlines, Kingfisher Red, Go Air, Jet Airways, Jetlite, SpiceJet and Paramount Airways.
    Terminal 1C - All domestic arrivals
    Terminal 2 - All international flights operate from Terminal 2. Departures are on the upper level of the terminal building and Arrivals on the lower level.

    * Certain domestic routes of Air India are operated from Terminal 2. For further information please contact your respective airline.
  • How early should I arrive at the airport before my flight?
Ans: It is recommended that you arrive 90 minutes prior to departure for check-in and security screening for domestic flights. For International Flights, please arrive three hours prior to for check-in and security screening.
  • Is a parent allowed to accompany a child traveling alone through check-in and security screening for boarding the aircraft?
Ans: Please contact your airline to make arrangements to escort your child to board their flight.
  • Is there any Child Care lounge facility at the airport?
Ans: For the privacy of mothers who wish to nurse their infants, a well-equipped Child Care Lounge with toys, baby cot and a female attendant is available at Domestic Departure Terminals (Terminal 1A & Terminal 1D). However, the facility is also available at Terminal 2.
  • Is Wi-Fi facility available at the airport?
Ans: Wi-fi internet access is available in the Security Hold Area of Terminal 2. Please contact the Airtel counter there for detail. This facility is also available in the domestic terminals.
  • Are there hotels or any other accommodation available in and around the airport?
Ans: There are several hotels catering to all budgets along National Highway 8, Mahipalpur. This area is in the vicinity of the airport and easily accessible by all means of transport. For reservations, please contact your travel agent or the respective hotel.
  • What facilities are available at the airport for passengers with special needs such as wheelchairs?
Ans: IGI Airport offers barrier free access for passengers. There are reserved parking slots, ramps & special rest rooms for passengers with special needs. In addition, wheel chairs are available with Airport Manager office at each terminal. DIAL has also posted Customer Service Executives at the airport who assist and guide you during the journey. For further assistance, you are requested to contact your respective airline or the Airport Manager's office at each terminal.
  • Can pregnant ladies travel on domestic flights? Is there any format of certificate required to be furnished for pregnant ladies?
Ans: Yes, pregnant ladies are allowed to travel on domestic flights. However, a fitness certificate (certifying that the pregnant lady is fit to travel by Air) is required by the concerned doctor. Women above 32 weeks pregnancy are not allowed to travel by air.

  • Is there any retiring room/waiting room facility at International / Domestic airport?
Ans: International passengers holding valid tickets can enter the terminal building only 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. However they can avail the lounge facility available across the departure drop off area at the International Departure level. This can be used by bonafide ticket folders free of cost up to 6 hours prior to their scheduled departure. Visitors can use this facility by paying Rs. 30 per person. Visitors can also access the lounge at the Arrival level by paying Rs. 80 per person.

At Domestic Terminal 1A, Terminal 1C, visitors can enter the terminal by paying Rs. 50 per person.
Please note that visitor entry to terminals and lounges may be restricted without prior notice due to security or operational reasons.
  • Does the airport have a money exchange facility?
Ans: Money exchange counters are available in all terminals at the IGI Airport
  • Can I carry medicines on board?
Ans: You need to carry Doctor’s prescription for each & every medicine in your hand and/or checked in baggage. Passengers are also advised to get in touch with their Airlines regarding the same.
Airport information
  • Who do I contact if I have lost something at the airport?
Ans: All the unclaimed property found in the terminals & its vicinity, apron, car park etc. are deposited in the office of Airport Manager of respective terminal. After next 24 working hours, lost property is deposited in Materials Management Department, Delhi International Airport Private Limited. The claimant should be in possession of photo-copy of boarding card/ticket & Identity card or may send a person duly (along with identity proof) authorized to collect the property on his behalf.   • How do I transfer between terminals at Domestic and International?
Ans: Inter terminal Transfer Coach is available between International terminals (Terminal 2) and Domestic Terminals (Terminal 1 & 1A) at regular intervals. To avoid inconvenience you are requested to plan from at least 60 mins to transfer time between the Domestic & International Terminals. Kindly contact the Inter-terminal transfer helpdesk located in both the domestic & arrival concourses.
  • Where can I give a feedback/ make a query about the airport on the website?
Ans: You can make complaints; give your feedback and suggestions at the official website of DIAL. The URL of the website is www.newdelhiairport.in or email us at feedback.igiairport@gmrgroup.in or at the airport please contact the Airport Manager’s office or the Customer Service Executives posted.
  • Do you have a visitor area?
Ans: The visitor area is available at the International Terminal. Entry for visitors is permitted on purchase of a ticket costing Rs.60/- for Departure level and Rs.60/- for Arrival level.

Entry to International terminal for passengers is 3 hours prior to the departure, but the passenger can enter the visitors lounge 8 hours prior to the flight departure. Where as, the facility at the Terminal IA can be availed at Rs 50/-. Visitors Entry is currently prohibited in Terminal lD.
  • Is it still possible to drop off and pick up someone in front of a terminal?
Ans: Yes, vehicles are permitted to pull up curbside, but ONLY for ACTIVE loading and unloading. Vehicles left unattended at the curb will be towed and fined.
  • Does the Airport have smoking areas?
Ans: IGI Airport is non -smoking, however, there is a smoking lounge inside Security Hold Area and smoking is also allowed in business lounges.
  • Does the airport have any medical facility?
Ans: Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited has provided the Medical Centre facility, equipped with a 24-hour pharmacy and well-trained doctors and paramedics available round the clock at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, to serve as an emergency treatment centre for passengers/visitors who may develop medical complications while on travel or in the airport premises. The airport also has an Ambulance on standby to cater to any medical emergency.
  • What are the left luggage facility?
Ans: Due to prevailing security alerts, the left luggage facility at IGI Airport's Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 has been suspended till further notice. Inconvenience caused to passengers is regretted.
  • Does a Railway Reservation Counter exist at the airport?
Ans: Railway Reservation counter is operational at the Arrival Hall of International Terminal (Terminal 2), IGI Airport from Monday to Saturday (5am - 8pm) and on Sundays the timings are 8am to 2 pm.
Baggage
  • Is there somewhere to store bags and other items at the airport and what is the luggage allowance?
Ans: The Left Luggage facility is available at Premium Parking of International Terminal (opposite Arrivals) & also at the General Parking of the Domestic Terminal opposite Terminal 1D.

Charges: Baggage Up to 30 Kgs – 15/- Rupees

Baggage exceeding 30 Kgs – 20/- Rupees

2. Terminal I Left Luggage Facility:

Charges: Baggage Up to 30 Kgs – 15/- Rupees

Baggage exceeding 30 Kgs – 20/- Rupees

Helmet / Handbag / Briefcase – 5/- Rupees

Please note – The charges mentioned are for 24 hrs and one can keep the luggage for 90 days.

  • If a suitcase was mislaid/delayed and was not delivered to the final destination. Who is to be contacted?
Ans: You may contact your respective airlines and furnish them the details regarding your misplaced baggage.
  • What are the weight, size & number of luggage to be carried on a flight?
Ans: All Airlines have got different parameters in this regard. Therefore it is suggested to contact your respective airline for detailed information.

  • How can I check the flight arrival or departure timings?
Ans: Flight Information Display System (FIDS) is displayed on the homepage of our website and it provides the latest updates regarding the arrival and departure of the flights. Flight information can also be obtained by contacting the airline directly (numbers are listed on the website) or by calling us at our 24x7 flight enquiry number + 91 124 3376000.
  • How do I check routes and get timetables for flights?
Ans: You may log on to the website of the concerned airlines you are traveling and can get the information regarding the routes and the time table of the flights. Also you can contact your travel agent for the same.
  • What car parks are offered at IGI airports, how much are they and where are they located?
Ans: Rates are in Rs.(inclusive of service tax)

  • Can I pre-book car parking?
Ans: No this facility is currently not available.
  • How do I plan my onward route from the airport?
Ans: You may hire AVIS Car Rentals, Prepaid taxi, Easy cabs or through DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) buses and accordingly plan your onward route from the airport.
Shopping
  • What happens if the goods I purchase at the airport are faulty?
Ans: You may register your complaint regarding the faulty goods against the shop from where you made your purchase and necessary steps will be taken in this regard or contact us at feedback.igiairport@gmrgroup.in and we will provide you the required assistance.
  • Is it permissible to shop at the International Airport through a Credit Card?
Ans: Duty Free Shops at IGI Airport (Terminal 2) accepts only Master Card, Visa and American Express Credit Cards.
  • How can I get a job at the airport?
Ans: If you are interested in opportunities at the Airport, please log on to careers option on the DIAL website (www.newdelhiairport.in) & send your resume. For airlines you can log onto their respective websites.
